This is a plodding read, but he was rather a plodding man. I think the writing is amazingly thorough and I have surprised myself by wading through a very very long book filled with details. I have really gotten a vision of the founding of our democracy in terms of the individuals involved, and, in these careless political times, I find the conviction, sincerity and courage of our Founding Fathers to be inspiring and enlightening. I am learning, first hand, about what is now being treated so carelessly. It is heart breaking, really, but I find this book also comforting and sane.
