About this audiobook

It's hard to make friends with the other women at the Icehome camp when you'd rather be dissecting the local fauna. Which is why I'm surprised when one of the big, brawny islanders asks me to help him make a prosthetic leg. I don't know N'dek, but since I'm a scientist, he wants my help. And while I'm more into dinosaurs than anatomy, I love a challenge. As we work together, I come to see that N'dek's not just clever and determined, he's also protective and sweet. And he kisses like a fiend. He's a distraction I don't need . . . but he might be everything I've ever wanted. Too bad he says he's going to resonate to someone else. Contains mature themes.

4 stars — Devi was a fantastic change from the everyday. I loved her nerdy science loving self, and how passionate she was about learning. I both got her reticence with N’dek and didn’t…like, I got that she wanted to protect herself from hurt, but why she held on to the bizarre belief that Bridget was his one, I have no idea. I think it’s one of those things where sometimes smart people miss obvious things. The name thing really struck me…learning how to pronounce a name and having that be a sign of love and caring and respect. N’dek was both endearing and frustrating. It was hard to watch him wallow at times, it was hard to watch him get irrationally jealous. But I was also proud of him for seeing an opportunity for change and going for it — and not being afraid of the hard work when it wasn’t easy on the first try. I enjoyed their relationship, they were kind of adorable the way they crushed on one another and couldn’t resist. I kind of wish the Bridget thing was cleared up earlier, but what can you do? The games were fun in the background. It was nice to see the beach tribe getting along better for bits at a time. And it was nice to get some insight into Bridget. I’m also now intrigued by Sam, and of course her book is wayyyyy later.
