This book was quite an adventure. Nick Prophet is a fixer for the criminal gangs, but when he gets set up on his last job, he ends up with a hostage. Maggie was a fighter, it was refreshing to see a hostage that continued to fight, and didn't just give up and do as they were told as so many seem to do. She was fighting him every single chance she could. I liked Nick's character, he doesn't do his job for the kicks, he does it for the family he loves. He was likeable and I can see how Maggie fell for him. There are a few twists, and the one towards the end really took me by surprise, I definitely not expecting that. The book is a roller coaster ride and keeps you on your toes. The move from enemies to lovers is quick and towards the end. They have chemistry, but it takes Maggie longer to realise. I listened to this book on audio and the duel narrators were good, they were easy to listen to and pulled you into the story. - standalone - morally grey MMC - standalone - HEA
