About this audiobook

Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist. Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible. After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever. The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows-and it's forbidden. Contains mature themes.

Ok, wait a minute. The agreement was layed out at the table. You lose and answer my questions. She did. Contract satisfied. So the whole basis of this story is bs. The relationship feels very much like a teenager dating an older man. That impression is strengthened by her also being a virgin. Besides that theres no chemistry between them. He just treats her like a child. ew he impaled her??? Girl, this is trash. AND TELLING YOUR BOSS THAT YOUR COWORKER SA'D YOU AT THE CLUB IS ABSOLUTELY APPROPRIATE

Recommended to me by a friend, I really enjoyed it and I was skeptical since I have read a bit of lore of Olympus. ( I couldn't help but compare) Though I like it much more on the relationships formed & more communication between the characters overall. Definitely made me want to read more and finish out the rest of the book series. With that said I'm off to book two & three. (spoilers maybe) One thing that I appreciate is hearing more of Hades side and the description of the underworld. Also having Persephone confront herself and having Hades helping with that process. I really enjoyed this, cuz I was screaming at my phone for this type of realization or maybe confrontation between the two characters in the equivalent of the webtoon. The fact that in this telling of this relationship, I prefer the communication that Hades and Persephone is having and how it has form along the way. Is very inspiring and I am eager to read the following books.

I hated this book in the beginning. A friend assured me that it would get better and that I would love the ending. I did! I highly recommend this book, and don't give up on it halfway through, the ending is worth it!
