About this audiobook

A kid finds a lost 'thing' on the beach where he's scavenging for his bottle top collection. The thing is a large, freakish creature but no-one else really notices it - it's simply not a part of their familiar day-to-day reality. So the kid takes it upon himself to try to find where the lost thing belongs.

About the author

Shaun Tan was born in 1974 and grew up in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. In school he became known as the 'good drawer' which partly compensated for always being the shortest kid in every class. Shaun has won many awards for his picture books and illustration including: the NSW Premier's Literary Award for The Arrival and The Red Tree; the Ditmar Award for Best Artwork for The Lost Thing; and the World Fantasy Award for Best Artist.

Humphrey Bower is a gifted and versatile actor. Since obtaining a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature at Oxford University, he has worked extensively in theatre, television and audiobook narration. Humphrey won the prestigious Audie Award (US) for his performance of The Family Frying Pan by Bryce Courtenay, and was shortlisted for an Audie Award for his performances of Gould's Book of Fish by Richard Flanagan and Brother Fish by Bryce Courtenay. Humphrey's sensitive and intelligent readings are highly regarded and he is well-known for his capacity to perform a variety of accents.
