About this audiobook

“Rancière sets out the radical theory of intellectual emancipation that is the core of most of his later work. It is based on his archive discovery of the works of the revolutionary French educator Joseph Jacotot (1770 - 1840).”

It is an argument for intellectual equality that comes to some startling radical conclusions!

The Ignorant Schoolmaster provides a rollercoaster ride through some of the most challenging and stimulating questions raised by the intellectual development humankind. How can we develop emancipation through intelligence without reproducing the exisiting inequalities upon which our education is forged? I had never heard the names of Jaques Rancière or Joseph Jacatot before listening to this chapbook, but Szczelkun’s analysis of their theories makes stimulating listening.
