The city of Corinth was Hollywood, Las Vegas, and New York all rolled into one. Corinth was intellectually alert, materially prosperous, but morally corrupt. Its citizens were devoted to the reckless development of the individual. The church at Corinth is the "carnal church" - spiritual babes, immature and undeveloped. Paul seeks to provide them with the necessary guidance to bring them to full maturity.

Chuck Missler was raised in Southern California. He was pursuing a doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University when he left to attend the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis where he graduated with honors. After a distinguished military career, he pursued a career as a business executive. He eventually started his own computer network firm. The low point in his career came when one of his business ventures failed and he lost everything. While still in the corporate world, he taught weekly bible studies at a church in California. Eventually, he and his wife founded Koinonia House, an organization whose primary purpose is to encouraging others to study the Bible. Chuck has since left the business world to focus primarily on Koinonia House. Missler and his wife, Nancy currently resides in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
