The Ebb-Tide is a humorous story by Robert Louis Stevenson and Lloyd Osbourne. Three beggars run their petty scams in the port of Papeete on Tahiti. Along comes the opportunity of a lifetime, namely stealing a ship and its cargo, but they instead end up on an island where they try to plunder Attwater, a staunch Christian, who has been harvesting pearls there with the help of native laborers. Attwater proves to be heartlessly violent while debating always of Jesus' forgiveness.
