Erich Kästner (1899 – 1974) was a German author, poet, screenwriter and satirist, known for his humorous, socially astute poetry and children's literature. A stout pacifist and democrat, he was expelled from the national writers' guild during the Nazi era, with many of his books being burned in public. Today, he is widely regarded as one of Germany's most prolific and beloved children's book authors.

Ruby Rees is an Australian actress known for playing the key role of Edith in Foxtel's miniseries Picnic at Hanging Rock. She has been a professional performer all her life. She can be seen on Netflix, CBS and ABC in her recurring role as Jane in Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. Other credits include the children's series The Saddle Club and several short films, most recently Good Boy for Franco Films NYC.
