The old house on Willow Street had always been known as the haunted house in town. It had been abandoned for years, its windows boarded up, its paint peeling and its once grand exterior now crumbling. Most people avoided the house, believing that it was cursed and plagued by all sorts of evil spirits. But for Emily and her friends, the abandoned house was the perfect place for a Halloween party.
As the sun set on Halloween night, Emily and her friends gathered at the old house, dressed in their costumes and ready to explore the creepy interior. The group consisted of five friends - Emily, the fearless leader, Jake, the jokester, Kathy, the skeptic, Alex, the thrill-seeker, and Olivia, the believer in all things supernatural.
"This place looks wicked," Jake said with a mischievous grin as they approached the dilapidated porch. "Maybe we'll finally get to see a real ghost tonight."
Kathy rolled her eyes. "There's no such thing as ghosts. This is just an old, run-down house."
"We'll see about that," Olivia said ominously.
As they made their way up the creaky front steps and entered the house, a cold chill ran down Emily's spine. The air inside was musty and damp, with cobwebs draping from the ceiling and dust swirling in the dim light.
"Ugh, this place is nasty," Alex said, crinkling his nose in disgust. "How are we supposed to have a party in here?"
"Don't be such a baby," Emily chided. "A little dirt and cobwebs never hurt anyone. Let's check this place out."
The group made their way through the darkened rooms, their footsteps echoing off the walls as they searched for the perfect spot to set up their party. The house creaked and groaned, as if in protest of their presence.
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed through the house, causing the group to jump in fright.
"What was that?" Olivia whispered, her voice barely louder than a whisper.
