Finishing a novel by Becky Wade is the essence of also feeling every possible human emotion at the same time. I am equally surprised each time that the last book is always my favorite. I was excited when I received the ARC for “Falling For You”! Could it be possible she could out perform my expectations, AGAIN? In this novel, she is a quadruple “U” threat. Unmatched humor Unparalleled story lines Unexpected suspense Unadulterated Hope This book has plenty of what I call “Wade Moments”, because the humor or the pointed truth on the page is uniquely her own (another “U”). Let’s start with the cover. I, like you, saw the cover when it was released. However, that was nothing compared to seeing it for the first time, and having it in your hands! The picture is gorgeous and captivating, and is a perfect choice for Willow Bradford’s journey. Her journey is one of forgiveness, redemption, letting go, and what it means to live life in the “messy”. “Falling For You” has twists and turns that left my mind racing almost as fast as I could turn the pages. The complex, yet beautifully woven story lines elicited visceral responses as I read. And somehow, somewhere along the way, it stopped being about just Willow’s story, it’s your story and my story. The book beautifully addresses real emotions and challenges as they unearth old pain that is like a seeping wound left untreated. A gifted writer, Wade continues to grow and stretch herself with the publication of each novel. I enjoyed the heavier thread of suspense in this latest novel and found she weaves it beautifully into Willow and Corbin’s story. The novella (Then Came You) as well as the first novel in this series (True To You) had their own jaw dropping moments —but “Falling For You” provides distractions with other story lines so that the climatic event of the story caught me completely off guard. Perhaps the best aspect of this novel is the growth of the characters. I found myself on a healing journey of my own, and most certainly enjoyed the journey of both Willow and Corbin. Absolute truths like forgiveness and redemption are beautifully woven into a fictional world with non-fiction issues. You may shed some tears (I did!), but have no fear; there is plenty of humor! Rare are novels that produce legitimate laugh out loud moments and inside jokes amongst friends. Wade’s ability to introduce humor into her novels is really something special. Finally, the last page comes WAY too soon and I was left salivating for the NEXT novel! Watch out for another award for this beautiful story! This is a MUST READ!
