I loved Samara. What a fantastic character. Everything she suffered in her youth has changed her, and when her past comes back to haunt her I felt so terrible for her! The world-building was fantastic, the narration spot-on, and the characters were deeply flawed and gritty. I love everything about this book.

In a small fishing village, not only do those that live in this wet and dreary place have to deal with electrical storms zapping people off the face of the earth, but pirates and raiders lurk everywhere. This book was rife with twists and turns and I was left with my jaw dropped open on a few occasions, second guessing all my theories about where the characters or the story was leading - just the way I like it! Samara will imprint on your mind and you won't ever forget her or her story!
