A lot of detail, but misapplied detail. He seeks answers to questions that mostly begin with false premises. He lacks an understanding of the place of race in in US history and the civil rights goals that have sought to rectify persistant disparities between racial and (by extension) socioeconomic groups. He mistakes inclusion programs that democratize institutions for repression. He forgets that the government must ensure the general or common welfare, in balance with protecting the freedoms of individuals, as both are emphasized in the Constitution. It is however a superb example of the use of faulty syllogisms and misapplied facts that then present themselves as well-researched treatises, used so often today by right wing intelligentsia to bamboozle a wide swath of Americans!

Christopher F. Rufo is a writer, filmmaker, and activist. He has directed four documentaries for PBS, including America Lost, which tells the story of three forgotten American cities. He is a senior fellow of the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor of the public policy magazine City Journal. His reporting and activism have inspired a presidential order, a national grassroots movement, and legislation in twenty-two states. Christopher holds a BSFS from Georgetown University and an ALM from Harvard University. He lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and three sons.
