About this audiobook

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The House by Simon Lelic, read by Adam Newington and Gemma Whelan.

THE PERFECT COUPLE. THE PERFECT HOUSE. THE PERFECT CRIME.

Londoners Jack and Syd moved into the house a year ago. It seemed like their dream home: tons of space, the perfect location, and a friendly owner who wanted a young couple to have it.

So when they made a grisly discovery in the attic, Jack and Syd chose to ignore it. That was a mistake.

Because someone has just been murdered. Right outside their back door.

And now the police are watching them...

Not even 30min in the book and already the Lord's name is used in vain. There are so many words, phrases and expressions that can be used yet you opt to use the Lord's name in vain. Have you no fear of the Living God. I'm sure it's a good book but I obviously could not get through it as I fail to fathom how a writer has suddenly run out of perfectly good phrases that could have employed instead of using the good Lord's name in vain for no apparent reason at all. Disappointing. I have listened to 12hour audio books and not once did the writer feel the need to use profane language to get their point across.

Excellent narration. I'm not sure if reading this one would have been as interesting as the narration - it felt like I was listening in on a play. I was concerned about this being a silly haunted house scenario but the reviews assured me otherwise. Strong warning here: Graphic DV, so, be very careful. Otherwise, others have reviews worth reading. I certainly recommend this audiobook and narrators.
