Esme is born into a world of words. Motherless and irrepressibly curious, she spends her childhood in the Scriptorium, an Oxford garden shed in which her father and a team of dedicated lexicographers are collecting words for the very first Oxford English Dictionary. My favorite type of book. I love being placed in a historical space filled with real events and characters that is then given a fictional storyline to tie it all together and make it more digestible. It was a well written, beautiful, and important story to share.
