В основе романа «Неоконченный пасьянс» лежит история расследования громкого двойного убийства, совершенного в апреле 1888 г. в Санкт-Петербурге. Одной из жертв этого преступления явилась сестра известного этнографа и путешественника Н. Н. Миклухо-Маклая, умершего по странному стечению обстоятельств несколькими днями ранее (в романе выведена под фамилией Барклай). В 2006 г. сокращенный вариант романа вышел в издательстве «Крылов». Настоящее издание является авторским вариантом текста.
