تعددت طرق كتابة التفسير بحسب المراحل التاريخية والمصنف فجاءت : اولا لبيان اعجاز القرآن فنشأت البلاغة، ثم جاءت لبيان الاحكام، ومنها ما اعتمد فيها على اللغة والمعقول وان لم تخل من الاحاديث، ومنها ما اعتمد على المأثور وكتاب السيوطي هذا هو اختصار لكتابه " ترجمان القرآن " الذي اورد فيه الاحاديث بأسانيدها فلما وجد الهمم قاصرة حذف اسانيدها واكتفى بالمتن من الحديث مع نسبته الى مخرجه من كتب السنة . ولم يلتزم فيه الصحة فهو ينقل الحديث ويترك الى القارئ النظر في سنده او كلام العلماء فيه
