يحكي هذا الكتاب تفاصيل رحلة المؤلف والتي ابتدأت منذ لحظة تحريره من السجن ثم يصف الأوضاع كيف كانت في الداخل السوري في المناطق التي لم تكن تخضع لسيطرة النظام وكيف سافر الكاتب مسافات شاسعة بطرق بدائية من سير على الأقدام لساعات قاربت الثمان ساعات ثم تجوله في البلدان المختلفة ليدخل الأردن أولاً ثم كيف قطع معظم الأراضي السورية وكيف أن هذا البلد الموحد قد انقسم خلال الثورة وصار أشبه ما يكون بعدة مقاطعات تابعة لدول مختلفة وبين جميع تلك المقاطعات حالة حرب
وبعد ذلك يحكي الكاتب عن سيره في طريق محفوف بالموت في كل لحظة أمل في أن يصل في النهاية إلى مكان آمن
