تضيَّق الأفق، تحددت المساحة، تلاشى النور، تعفَّر الجو الخانق برائحة تشبه الحديد.. الصديد.. ربما العفن، السقف والجدران ارتجفا تهالكًا لكنهما سرعان ما كتما طقطقتهما إذعانًا لصمت غامض، بينما تمنَّعت الأرض عن ابتلاع الدماء السابحة على سطحها الناتئ وكأن أعماقها قد فاضت بها، فسالت واختلطت بذرات ترابها مصرَّة على الرفض في مواراة المزيد من خطايا البشر، لم تصمت عن فظاعة المأساة كصمت بقية أجزاء الغرفة الخاوية من مقومات الحياة، كانت تستصرخ.. تأن.. تزمجر، لتعلن شهادتها على كل جرائمهم، سنوات من الافتراس لبعضهم بعضًا، يشقُّون وجهها -ليل نهار- بأنهرٍ لا تغذي خيرًا ولا تنبته، يقتطعون من مساحاتها سجونًا يستصلحونها لتكون أضيق وأحقر البقاع، أعدَّوها مقابر لأجل الأحياء من بني جنسهم.
