يعتبر الجامع المشهور بـسنن الترمذي يعتبر من أهم مصادر الحديث الحسن, حيث قد عني الترمذي بجمع أحاديث الأحكام كما فعل أبو داود ، ولكنه بين الحديث الصحيح من الضعيف ، وذكر مذاهب الصحابة والتابعين وفقهاء الأمصار . كتاب الترمذي أحسن الكتب وأكثرها فائدة ، وأحكمها ترتيبـًا ، وأقلها تكرارًا ، وفيه ما ليس في غيره من المذاهب ووجوه الاستدلال ، والإشارة إلى ما في الباب من الأحاديث ، وتبيين أنواع الحديث : من الصحة والحسن والغرابة والضعف ، وفيه جرح وتعديل .
