رائعة أخرى من روائع ويليام شكسبير يروي لنا أحداثها في مدينة البندقية، وهي مزيج فريد لمشاعر النبل والوفاء والحب للصديق وللزوج، ومثال نادر للتضحية والفداء وعرض شائق لتلك المشاعر النبيلة في مواجهة نقيضاتها من الخسة والنذالة مع الشح وغياب الضمير فنتيجة الصراع الأبدي بين الخير والشر هي اكبر برهان على قوة الأول وهوان الثاني وقد مثل الكاتب ذلك كله من خلال المرابي اليهودي شايلوك الذي يسعى في الانتقام من رجل بلغ في الوفاء ان صار مضرب الامثال وتشتد الاحداث بمحاولة صديق هذا النبيل لانقاذه فهل يا ترى يفلح في ادراك غايته كما اراد ام ان للأقدار ارادة اخرى؟
