বেতার জগৎ (Betar Jagat) was a Bengali Programme Journal of All India Radio (Akashvani) published by All India Radio, Calcutta (Kolkata) started w.e.f. 27th September, 1929 on Fortnightly basis.

The Programme Journal is an essential ancillary for any large broadcasting organisation throughout the world. Betar Jagat was widely read and used to provide a useful link between broadcasting and its listeners. The reprinting of broadcast talks, poems and detailed information about broadcast personalities, stimulated interest and enabled listeners to have a permanent record of a talk or what so ever, they might have greatly enjoyed.

India’s National Broadcaster and also the premier Public Service Broadcaster, All India Radio (Akashvani) has been serving to inform, educate and entertain the masses since it’s inception, truly living up to its motto – ‘Bahujan Hitaya : Bahujan Sukhaya’. One of the largest broadcasting organisations in the world in terms of the number of languages of broadcast, the spectrum of socio-economic and cultural diversity it serves, AIR’s home service comprises 479 stations , located across the country,reaching nearly 92% of the country’s area and 99.19% of the total population. AIR originates programming in 23 languages and 179 dialects.
