ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಬಂಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಗ್ರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಾರಣ ವಿವರಣೆಯೊಡನೆಯೂ ರೂಪಗೊಳಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಬಹುದಿನಗಳಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಈ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಈ ಸಣ್ಣ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ತಕ್ಕಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪರಿಷತ್ತು ಇದನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ೧೯೬೦–೬೧ರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಾಗಿ ಪಠ್ಯಪುಸ್ತಕವೆಂದು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಈ ಲೇಖನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಗತಿ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಮೊದಲಾದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ವಿಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತು ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ವಿವರಣೆ ಬಯಸುವವರು ಈ ಲೇಖಕನ “ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ”, “ರಾಜ್ಯಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ”, “ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಶಕ್ತಿ” ಮೊದಲಾದ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಬಹುದೆಂದು ಬಿನ್ನಯಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

Very wonderful book!! The author DVG heartily explains in detail about the wisdom, skills and moral values required to lead a good life. Must read for all those who know Kannada and this should be translated in other languages too.
