攝影術的發明不過百餘年光景，從吸人魂魄的巫術小盒子，到記寫真實的人事見證鏡，人類很快懂得如何與這個行為共處。它不只為我們封存記憶，也為我們創造記憶。在台灣，80年代是報導／紀實攝影大放大嗚的黃金時期。身處在政治經濟環境的關鍵變遷中，當時的報導／紀實攝影者，憑著己身的努力，某種程度成了我們社會的傳奇，並且影響了下一個世代的年輕攝影者。「按下人間快門」想訴說的，正是關於這些攝影人的故事。在一系列的訪談中，他們交流了影像畫面與文字敘事如何互補、職場生存與個人創作如何平衡、攝影者與被拍攝對象如何互動、生命脈絡與攝影生涯如何照見，以及紀實影像有何限制與可能。有別於英雄式的頌讚，我們企圖呈現的不只是他們的抱負、理想和氣慨，更在於他們有過的疑惑、掙扎與反省。穿過歲月透視，我們意外看見他們生命的平實；藉由世代對照，我們再次衡量他們影像的重量。
