古籍文獻不僅是承載中華文明的記憶，也是不可再生的珍貴遺產。《古籍文獻典藏與管理》一書，主要論述中國古代藏書發展的曲折歷程，並參照我國古代對於圖書典藏與管理的經驗累積，發展出一套防治的方法。其中包括書籍材料的改進，來防止書害發生；典藏環境的改良與控制；擬訂藏書管理規則；修補與復原遭害書籍，達到長期保存的目的。這些防治書害的方法，也確能發揮相當作用；保存至今的古書，大半應歸功於前人的努力。而其中許多作法與觀念，更足資今日圖書典藏工作參考和取法。
