About the author
1953年、神奈川県生まれ。東大法卒。在学中に中国語を学び、77年台湾師範大学語学留学。78年外務省入省。日米安全保障条約課長、中東アフリカ局参事官などを経て2005年退官。在北京大使館公使時代に広報文化を約3年半担当。現在、立命館大学客員教授、外交政策研究所代表。キヤノングローバル戦略研究所研究主幹。
