總之，寫文學史確實應該抓大放小，否則便是一種「『博覽旁搜』，以量取勝」。不過，寫文學史應該先研究再篩選，而不應該先篩選再研究，只有在對所有對象進行充分研究的前提下才能知道哪些該抓、哪些該放。若反其道而行之，完全可能因為不瞭解而放棄那些本該抓住的內容，卻讓那些本該放棄的內容濫竽其間。並且，結構主義告訴我們，「現實的本質並不單獨地存在於某種時空之中，而總是表現於此物與它物間的關係之中。」就是為了研究重要作家和重大現象，也應該將其與相關作家和現象聯繫起來，只有這樣，才能真正理解重要作家的重要性和重大現象的意義所在。這一切，都離不開史料工作。 ——廖久明【秀威資訊科技股份有限公司製作】
