慈濟月刊創刊於一九六七年七月，五十六年來持續以報導文學形式，記錄當代真實美善的人物與事蹟；保存發生在此時、此地，足以留傳後代的生命精粹。
以人文關懷角度看世事、寫實事，發掘蘊藏在臺灣民間底層一股「善的生命力」—有平凡小人物的行善觀，有在逆境中發光的生命韌性，還有力行環保淨化大地的無名英雄，也有世界重大災難的即時報導與長期追蹤關懷；期能「為淨化心靈作活水，為祥和社會作砥柱，為聞聲救苦作耳目」。
