濮陽，黃河下游北岸的一座歷史文化名城，上古時代，五帝之一的顓頊及其部族就在此活動，故有「顓頊遺都」之稱。西元前629年，衛成公遷都楚丘（今濮陽）,楚丘一度成為衛國的政治、經濟、文化中心。城邑商旅不絕，相當繁華。思想的活躍，精神的解放，文化的發展，宮廷樂師於「桑間濮上」創造的樂曲「鄭衛之音」,風靡華夏。1987年在濮陽西水泊出土了距今6400年的珍貴文物蚌塑龍形圖案，在國內外考古界引起轟動，被稱為「中華第一龍」，據此，中華炎黃文化研究會命名濮陽為「龍鄉」。這座城市被譽為中華帝都.華夏龍都。
