本書針對學習者的這種需要，介紹最常見的普通話口語詞彙和表達方式，並採用粵普對照的方式列出例句，幫助學習者減低轉換語言時的困難。
本書選詞的特點，是以日常應用範圍作基礎，精選出200多條慣用詞語和句型，不求全濫收，以期能切合學習者的實際需要。等，要在深造階段始能涉及，本書則不作收錄。
