自童年開始酷愛在夜深時躲在被窩啃小說，大學時選修英國文學，也只因「每日奉旨狂啃小說寫寫感想就能畢業，實在太幸福。」林詠琛進入文壇以前，從事多年公關工作，從沒有想過有一天會成為作家。開始寫作的契機是相信2000年的世界末日預言，想在末日前至少看過自己的小說被擺放在書局一角，於是在 1999年毅然辭掉工作，完成了第一本小說《空之鏡》並自資出版。結果，界末日沒有來，她寫作的文字精靈卻被統統喚醒了。她筆下的故事，明明滲着不可思議的色彩，卻讓人覺得情深意真。
