位於台灣本島西方的澎湖，由大大小小90幾個島嶼組成，又被稱為澎湖群島，雖然發展腹地狹小，但是鄰近的海域漁產豐富，因此島上居民大多靠捕魚維生。因此16世紀時葡萄牙人來到此地，以漁翁島（Pescadores）稱呼澎湖，另外澎湖的縣花為「天人菊」，又獲得菊島的美稱。
身為台灣最早開墾的城鎮，澎湖留有不少珍貴的歷史古蹟，再加上處處可見的獨特自然景觀，總讓遊客驚嘆不已。
到澎湖欣賞自然與人文景觀之餘，千萬不能錯過新鮮漁獲做成的海鮮料理，像是牡蠣飯、海鮮粥、炸稞等，還有味道濃郁、酸甜解渴的仙人掌冰，更是別處少有的在地特產。
