随着国家间交往的日益增多，国家之间甚至地区之间的比较已经进入人们的日常生活，人们需要通过比较来认识事物之间的关联性，从与他者的比较中来确定自己的属性。在政治生活中，通过比较来认识各国尤其是本国的权力与权利特征、民主政治和国家建设的质量、发展模式的优长和缺陷等。总之，我们的生活已经离不开比较！上海师范大学比较政治研究中心致力于比较研究，致力于中国的比较政治学的发展。它成立于2013年，以上海师范大学为依托，整合校内外、国内外相关领域的研究资源，致力于比较政治学理论、方法以及国别比较研究；定期举办比较政治学相关学术研讨会和高端学术讲座；定期出版学术辑刊《比较政治学研究》。《比较政治学研究》为政治学研究者提供公开的学术交流与争鸣园地，诚邀相关议题学者共同探讨比较政治学，以促进学科繁荣和进步。本刊的策划与出版，融思想性与前沿性为一体，以比较政治学为特色和重点，以专业化和国际化的视角确保刊物的学术质量、学术风格和学术使命，致力于解读纷繁的国际政治现实，在对比研究中提炼共通性的分析工具，以期为国家政治发展提供参照的*尺度。
