中州學派紫微斗數的特色，在於反對宿命。殿堂級斗數大師王亭之得中州學派傳承，經用心研究，認為斗數非能隨時變易不可，否則只求背誦口訣，知其然而不知其所以然，徒然只得皮肉，而未得骨髓，也只是呆板的綱領而已。故他著作《中州學派經典系列》，以清初「八喜樓鈔本」作為藍本，依中州學派觀點，據古代精算原則及徵驗，結合現代社會文化背景，註釋了斗數領域中的幾篇重要古賦，指出坊間鈔本及註文的誤失之處，正本清源，內容振聾發聵。
《中州學派經典系列》3 --斗數古訣最早出現可溯至明代，在流傳的過程中，歷代均有增刪。明末清初出現的「八喜樓鈔本」，不少內容與中州學派所傳相同，王亭之故為此鈔本補註，為初踏斗數門檻及研究者提供更充實的參考。此外，觀乎斗數格局可推算命造的特性和人生起落的趨勢。王亭之有感前人編訂之不足，遂根據中州學派所傳絕學，復依現代社會背景，將種種格局重新整理，加以詮釋，義理分明，讀者心領神會，一點便明。
《中州學派經典系列》4--所謂數典不忘祖。王亭之於繼承中州學派絕學之時，不忘交代中州學派的源流和發展。書中並有專文介紹斗數十四正曜的特質，內容豐富，切合現代社會實況，是斗數研究者不可多得的參考資料。書中第二部分是〈零談篇〉，指出了初學斗數者起命盤、定命局、算時差時常犯的錯誤，以及學習斗數必須留意的地方，可謂金鍼度盡，價值殊高。
