本書從“城鄉協調”的視角切入，文獻回顧並梳理出關於學界從探討“城鄉統籌”到“城鄉一體化”再到“城鄉融合“三個階段的研究線索，提出了”城鄉協調之二元分割”到“鄉村振興之二元融合”的邏輯命題。本研究認為：強調區域、城鄉協調的基礎是不能割裂地探討城亦或是鄉的發展問題，新型城鎮化與鄉村振興兩個命題在邏輯上是統一的整體。
