About the author
胡萬川 曾任靜宜大學中國文學系教授、東海大學中國文學系教授、法國巴黎大學客座教授、清華大學中國文學系教授、系主任和臺灣文學研究所所長 。 研究主題與學術專長為古典小說、楚辭、神話、傳說、民間文學，著有《真假虛實──小說的藝術與現實》、《真實與想像：神話傳說探微》、《平妖傳研究》、《鍾馗神話與小說之研究》、《臺灣民間故事類型（含母題索引）》、《民間文學的理論與實際》、《話本與才子佳人小說之研究》等書。
