　　縱觀以往美中關係，雙方皆為伊核問題的「利益攸關方」，但兩國在伊核問題上並非常有一致的看法，因此，本書以DavidEaston的系統論為研究途徑，全面且具體的探討影響美中伊核政策之國內及國際變數為何，而後分析美中伊核政策與作為，進而評估兩國針對伊核問題所採取的手段是否有達雙方國家所預期之成效？　　此外，本書將更進一步以共同利益、衝突利益和互補利益等三種利益做為研究指標，藉此分析美中在伊核問題上的走向，是「同床異夢」亦或「求同存異」？是否會基於共同利益而合作，亦或互補利益而妥協，還是最終皆因衝突利益而發展為核僵局？並藉此提出可供觀察未來發展的參考方向。
