本書從歷史發展的角度建構1945年至1949年的中國文學史，探討自由主義文學理想－－「為文學而文學」如何受到政治的影響而趨於消亡。作者透過《大公報》《文學雜誌》《觀察》等文學雜誌，分析1945.08-1949.10中國文學的演變。1945.08.15，日本裕仁天皇以廣播「終戰詔書」的形式正式宣佈日本無條件投降。中國文學的重心自此發生位移，作家與知識人此時對於區分光明與黑暗的訴求比以往任何時候都來得迫切。及至1949.07.02，第一次「中華全國文學藝術工作者代表大會」於北平開幕，會議中鞏固了對文學的規範、組織對文學的操控作用，延安文藝傳統至此取得正統的地位。1949.10中共建政，自由主義的文學理想，正式宣告終結。【秀威資訊科技股份有限公司製作】

胡傳吉， 歷史學學士，文學博士。現任職於中國中山大學。曾在《紅樓夢學刊》等刊發表論文四十餘篇，著有《中國小說的情與罪》。學術興趣?文藝思想研究，近年專注於考察二十世紀四十、五十年代中國知識人的選擇及處境。
