蔡醫多年寫下不少著作，但他從不認為自己是作家，他的寫作只是青年工作者的延伸身分，他的寫作本來就是青年工作的一部分。故此本書以蔡醫的青年工作者身分為經，蔡醫就圍繞青年工作者的五個元素，點評心得，選輯他的經典作品，與這一代青年工作者分享，裝備工作者服侍新一代。

About the author

1971年畢業於加拿大曼尼托巴醫學院，獲取醫學博士學位，學成後旋即返港，於播道醫院行醫。當時，因感香港青少年的困境和需要，於1973年創辦《突破》雜誌，1976年再往美國Trinity International University攻讀心理輔導，學成後回港至今。

蔡醫生於1994年被香港政府授予「太平紳士」榮銜，於2001年被香港浸會大學頒授榮譽社會科學博士學位，並於2006年，獲上海華東師範大學授予名譽教授稱函；2008年接受四川大學華西臨床醫學院邀請擔任心理衛生中心名譽顧問。蔡醫生曾任突破機構榮譽總幹事，現為青年全球網絡牧靈及榮譽會長，他積極參與社會事務，被香港政府委任為多個有關青少年政策及服務的委員會成員。他致力為世界各地、內地及香港等地的青少年教育及服務作出貢獻，並在有關青年發展的政策上提出意見。
