本書的主要建樹：一是從新經濟社會學的學科視角，對合作社制度表達與制度實踐相背離的現象進行闡釋，指出「嵌入式發展」是當前合作社的基本特征；二是提出用「村庄吸納合作」與「大社區信任」作為分析概念分別闡釋村域合作社與跨村合作社發展的社會機制；三是論證合作社發展中信任建構與制度變遷的關系，為合作社跨地域發展提供理論依據；四是立足異質性的社員基礎，分析專業性合作社與綜合性合作社的發展格局與發展前景。
趙曉峰，1981年出生，男，漢族，河南新野人，西北農林科技大學農村社會研究中心研究人員、人文學院講師、社會學博士（華中科技大學中國鄉村治理研究中心博士畢業）。主要從事農村社會學與中國鄉村治理問題研究。
