广东南雄小流坑—青嶂山省级自然保护区位于广东省的东北部，与江西省交界，成立于2007年，主要保护对象是亚热带森林生态系统及珍稀动植物资源。2016—2017年，广东省生物资源应用研究所和广州大学的科研人员对保护区的动植物资源开展了调查。共记录野生维管植物187科663属1 323种，其中蕨类植物32科60属117种，裸子植物5科6属6种，被子植物150科597属1 200种；两栖类动物2目9科31种，爬行类动物2目16科75种；鸟类169种，隶属于16目、50科，其中，非雀形目15目、23科、73种，占总种数的43.2%，雀形目鸟类27科、96种，占总种数的56.8%；兽类5目11科27种。本书对开展南岭山脉物种多样性研究、对广东南雄小流坑—青嶂山省级自然保护区物种保护具有重要意义，可以作为科研工作者、生物多样性保护工作者、自然观察热心者参考书籍。
