香港作為發展成熟的國際大都會，聚集了來自世界各地的不同人群，語言生態面貌豐富，接觸現象時有發生。因「兩文三語」政策的實施，香港以英文、中文（現代漢語）為書面語言，居民日常口語則以粵語為主流，另有英語、普通話及漢語其他方言並存。第一代移居香港的族群以其母語作為家庭語言，外出則使用粵語、英語。其後代則多以粵語為家庭語言，偶有使用父母輩的原方言。因與粵語的緊密接觸，各大族群所用方言，與原方言地存在差異。凡此種種，讓作者對香港漢語方言的生態面貌產生濃厚興趣。 本書以「閩南方言」為考察對象，調查香港居民中來自福建、廣東地區族群的閩語使用情況，並將調查結果匯集成書，以備考察，主要目的為記錄二十一世紀初仍存留於香港社會的閩南方言。
About the author
徐宇航博士，畢業於香港中文大學中國語言及文學系，現任職澳門大學人文學院中國語言文學系，多年來致力漢語方言學、音韻學、語言接觸、漢語史等領域研究，主持、參與研究項目數個，學術專著《潮州方言一百多年來的音韻演變》入選商務印書館語言學出版基金“中國語言學文庫”叢書，並於《中國語文》、《語言暨語言學》、《香港中文大學中國文化研究所學報》等期刊發表學術論文多篇。
