About this ebook
관음(觀音)은 관세음보살이 깨달음을 얻은 수행법이다. “이 소리를 만나면 수행자는 업장의 사슬로부터 완전히 해방되어, 자유를 찾아 윤회의 굴레를 벗어날 수 있음을 의심하지 말라”고 <법화경>은 전해진다. 또 성경의 첫머리에도, 우주가 시작되자마자 소리(말씀)가 있음을 기록하고 있다. 이 말씀(word)은 천상의 노래(音)로 표현되며 빛과 함께 천사들의 출현이 언제나 같이한다. “태초에 말씀이 있었고 말씀은 하느님과 함께 있었으며 말씀이 곧 하느님이다. 우주만물은 모두 그 소리로부터 창조되었으며 소리로부터 나오지 않은 것은 아무 것도 없었다.
