소설가 호는 금동(琴童) 필명은 춘사(春士) 1900년 평양 출생 1951년 사망 1919년 최초의 문학동인지 《창조》를 발간하였다. 주요 작품으로는 배따라기, 감자, 광염 소나타, 발가락이 닮았다 등의 단편소설과 《젊은 그들》, 《운현궁의 봄》 등의 장편소설이 있다. 2009년 ‘친일반민족행위 진상규명위원회’에서 김동인을 일제시대 친일행위자로 결정하였으며, 이에 그의 아들이 결정 취소 소송을 했지만 패소하였다.
