About the author
김유정(金裕貞)은 1935년 단편소설 「소낙비」가 『조선일보』에, 「노다지」가 『중앙일보』의 신춘문예에 각각 당선되어 문단에 올랐다. 등단하던 해에 「금 따는 콩밭」, 「떡」, 「산골」, 「만무방」, 「봄ㆍ봄」 등을, 그 이듬해인 1936년에 「산골 나그네」, 「봄과 따라지」, 「동백꽃」 등을, 1937년에는 「땡볕」, 「따라지」 등을 발표했으나 그해 지병이 악화되어 30세를 일기로 요절했다. 그는 불과 2년 남짓한 작가 생활 동안 30편 내외의 단편과 1편의 미완성 장편, 그리고 1편의 번역 소설을 남길 만큼 왕성한 창작 의욕을 보였다. 사후인 1965년, 서울시 문화상을 수상했다. 김유정기념사업회의 주최로 2007년 ‘김유정문학상’이 제정되었다.
