대학에서 '교육철학 및 교육사' 라는 과목을 강의 내용 중 'Idea of plato' 부분을 학생들이 질문한 내용을 이해할수 있도록 재구성하여 수록하였다. 아래 내용은 'Idea of plato' 의 일부분이다. 김선욱 학생: 김한중 교수님 그러면 어떻게 그런 모양들을 원이라고 부를 수 있지요?"" Student Seonwook Kim: ""Doctor Kim, then how can we call those shapes a circle?” 김선욱이가 의아해하며 물었다. Student Seonwook Kimasked being wondering. 김한중 교수: “그건 모든 원들의 이데아가 존재하기 때문이지. 이 말은 고대 그리스의 철학자 플라톤이 한 말이야·····.” Professor Hanjung Kim:""It is because there is an idea of all circles. It was said by Platon, an ancient Greek philosopher.” 김한중 교수: “우리 눈에 보이는 사물들이나, 우리가 아름답거나 옳다고 생각하는 갖가지 일들에는 그것의 모범이 되고 원형이 되는 본이 있다고 플라톤은 생각했어. 바로 그러한 것을 이데아라고 불렀단다.” Professor Hanjung Kim: Planton thought objects we could see or everything we thought as beautiful or right had a model that became their example or original form. He called that thing the idea.” 위 내용에서 본 바와 같이 김선욱 학생이' Idea'에 대해서 물어보자 김한중 교수는 이해할수 있도록' Idea' 를 설명하고 있음을 볼수 있다. 교육이란 학생 스스로 질문하여 그 해답을 찾고, 잘 이해가 안되거나 알수 없을 경우 교사에게 질문하여 이해할 수 있도록 해야 된다. 이해한 부분에 대해서 재구성하여 활용할 수 있도록 교육적 내용의 깊이를 더해 보는 창의적인 교육이 되길 희망해 보며 내용을 구성해 보았다. 또한, 이책의 모든 내용을 교육학박사 김한중교수가 영문으로 직접 작성하여 수록하였다. 이 책이 영어와 교육에 관심이 많은 국내, 국외 학생이나 교사, 교수에게 교육적으로 활용되길 기대해 본다.
