저자 - 김동인 (1900_1951) 호는 금동(琴童), 1919년 주요한(朱耀翰), 전영택(田榮澤), 최승만(崔承萬), 김환(金煥) 등과 함께 문학동인지인 '창조'를 발간하면서 처녀작 '약한 자의 슬픔'을 발표한 이래 1925년에는 '명문', '감자', '시골 황서방'과 같이 자연주의적 작품을 발표하여 문단의 주목을 받았다. 1955년에 사상계사에서 그의 문학적 업적을 기려 동인문학상을 제정하였다. 그는 신문학 초창기에 소설가의 독자성과 독창성을 강조하여 소설을 순수예술의 경지로 끌어올리는 데 공헌한 작가로 평가되고 있다.
