About the author
저자 요나스 리(Jonas Lauritz Idemil Lie)는 노르웨이의 소설가로 19세기 입센(Henrik Ibsen), 비외른손(Bjørnstjerne Martinus Bjørnson), 셸란(Alexander Lange Kielland)과 함께 노르웨이 문학의 4대 작가로 꼽힌다. 사실주의와 환상적인 요소를 결합했다. 일상과 바다, 사회적 불행, 노르웨이 중산층 여성이 감당하는 편견과 관습이 작품의 주요 주제다. 대표작으로 『세돛대 범선 미래호Tremasteren Fremtiden』, 『길례의 가족Familien Paa Gilje』등의 장편소설 외에, 단편집 《나쁜 힘》, 《니오베》 등이 있다.
역자 정진영은 대학에서 영문학을 공부했다. 상상에서는 고딕 소설의 그로테스크한 분위기와 잿빛의 종말론적 색채를 좋아하나 현실에서는 하루하루 장밋빛 꿈을 꾸면서 살고 있다. 고전 문학 특히 장르 문학에 관심이 많아서 기획과 번역을 통해 국내에 잘 알려지지 않은 작가와 작품을 소개하려고 노력 중이다. 제대로 평가받지 못한 작가와 작품을 재조명할 때 큰 보람을 느낀다. 스티븐 킹의 『그것』, 『러브크래프트 전집』, 『세계 호러 걸작선』, 『뱀파이어 걸작선』, 『펜타메로네』, 『좀비 연대기』 등을 번역했다.
