이 책은 기존에 출판된 ‘마스터 드론(Master Drone)’ 책에서 이론 관련 부분을 제외하고 DIY 드론 제작 부분만을 보완하여 출판한 것이다. 레이싱, 토이, 촬영용 멀티콥터를 구성하는 부품과 RC 조종기, FPV 고글 등의 온라인 구입부터 제작, 프로그램 세팅과 튜닝까지 설명한다. 특히 제작에 필요한 부품 등의 구입 가격을 수록하여 참조할 수 있게 하였다. 플라이트 컨트롤러의 세팅에 필요한 소프트웨어인 베타플라이트(Betaflight), 나자앰 어시스턴트(NAZA-M Assistant)와 사용되는 각종 펌웨어의 설치와 사용법을 소개하여 기본적인 세팅과 튜닝을 할 수 있게 하였다. 완제품 드론을 구입하여 드론을 날릴 수도 있지만 직접 드론을 제작하면 드론과 관련된 기술을 제작과정에서 자연스럽게 자기의 것으로 만들 수 있다. DIY 드론 제작의 소박한 체험을 통해 단순 취미 활동을 넘어 미래에 드론을 개발하고 운영하는 관련 항공산업에 종사하는 꿈을 갖는 기회가 되길 바란다.
