신원미상자는 새로움을 추구하는 작가다. 매번 다른 이야기를 하고자 하는 작가의 태도 덕분에 그가 쓰는 작품은 평이한 소재를 사용하더라도 특별함이 가득하다. 그의 신작 역시 마찬가지다. 스포츠물이라는 대중적 장르를 사용했음에도 불구하고, 그의 이야기는 다른 작품과 분명 다르다. 흥행요소라고 불리는 시스템, 배후령 등을 사용하지 않았을 뿐만 아니라, 주인공의 매력을 부각하는 것에 집중하는 점이 그것. 불필요한 요소를 넣기보다 이야기의 가장 기본인 주인공의 매력을 살리는데 집중해보겠다는 그의 선택은, 쉽게 찾아볼 수 없는 것이기에 무척 매력적으로 느껴진다. 독자로부터 뜨거운 호응을 받고 있는 작가가 보여줄 또 다른 새로움은 무엇인지, 기대를 갖고 지켜보도록 하자.
